Your Voice is Blue

Your vice is blue book cover

I studied Accounting in school, Covenant University to be precise and initially I was excited! I LOVE money, I’ve always loved counting money from a young age! Money talks always intrigued me. His charisma when in a suit was always amazing! I loved it!!!I beat my hand on my chest and said, “I must study accounting”! The aura of accountants seemed nice to me! I’m built for a life of ease and comfort, and accounting would give that to me! Ladies and gentlemen, that is how my love for accounting began!

Secondary school was great. Time for University! First two years were amazing, till my 300 level, I started feeling a certain discomfort with accounting. I had questions like, why do I have to debit or credit? I remember asking these questions in class and it looked like I was being problematic, so I stopped!

During this time, I was trying to get fair because I believed the fair ones were the fine ones. In the process, I found skincare and cosmetics. My business quickly grew a community of people! Oh well, the business crashed after some time because this baby girl didn’t know business management skills, nor branding etc! And downtime began, so I left it!

I decided to look or wait for the next best thing! I went into coding! HTML and CSS were great, (it’s beginner beginner level), a little bit of PHP but you see Javascript? (a programming language) it did me dirty! While learning to code, I still had this unrest. Till one day I heard, if you feel uncomfortable about something, it may be pointing you to your flare, your passion, your purpose etc.

My journey into marketing communications began! I got trained, so time to start putting it into use, yeah? For a long time, I didn’t know where to pitch my tent! Contents? Social media, PR? Community Building or Marketing? However I managed pages for people, but I got bored, writing creative contents was the only thing I found interesting.

Here I was confused, liking and diving into so many things. I was extremely knowledgeable in all of them but where do I pitch my tent? The skincare business failed but I was extremely sure I loved it, I knew where to pitch my tenant in the cosmetic world, I also heard God clearly on that.

What should I do next? Should I try again or leave it? How do I find my voice in the skincare industry? Well, I tried again and failed! But a higher degree of failure! The question is, Do I try again or let it go? How do I find my voice?
